52ca trying to locate the final drive filler plug the manual shows it's somewhere around the outer axle housing but I'm not finding it

there is a sheetmetal half moon pan on the BOTTOM of the final drive housing.. There should be a 1/2 inch pipe plug on the inner side ( center of tractor) to FILL the pan with about a quart of gear lube... To get it OUT, you remove the pan.. About a dozen 5/16 inch bolts hold it on.. Could be setting inside the rim area depending on how you have the tires positioned.

thank you apparently those covers are missing on mine but I have a new question on the right side I remove the filler plug and the lubricant was under pressure and overfilled and I was wondering could that be leaking from a different location within the assembly

those covers can NOT be missing. That is the BOTTOM of the final drive housing setting next to or inside the tire rim.... The TOP SHAFT has the brake and goes thru the transmission housing into the bevel gear assembly. If the SEALS are bad on the top shaft the oil will leak into the upper housing and run onto the ground thru a 1 inch hole on the BOTTOM of the axle housing... There is a seperate seal on the outboard end of the axle for the final drive  housing / gear oil... No, you can not leak other oil into the final drive housing.. Someone just overfilled it..

no they're not missing I just misunderstood I thought he meant there's another sheet metal plate over it I know how to remove bolts and take covers off I just couldn't find the drain bolt so I was asking about so he was gave me more information than I needed

I have often wondered why the engineers did not put drain plugs on those bottom housings? I have seen them with some pretty bad looking grease in them and some with water in the gear oil.
