I came across this in the basement of a deceased relatives house. It appears to be some sort of vacuum or pressure vessel. The lid has a gasket similar to a Ball jar. It's about 3 gallon capacity. It has 2 hose type fittings. The cover is clamped by the handle swinging to the vertical position. It is cast aluminum and pretty thick. It almost resembles one of those suction bleeder tools. There is no tube extending down inside from either fitting. There is maybe a valve on one fitting that a small handle may have snapped off. I've never seen anything like it and wonder if anyone has an idea. This may have been procured by my grandfather in the 30's or 40's as he worked at Fairbanks from the time he was assembling windmills till his retirement.

A friend tells me it's part of an old milking machine system. Fairbanks also made the scales to weigh the milk.

Yep, If you had a few more parts you could hook it up to you Allis tractors manifold and milk the cows instead of doing it by hand.

In Steve Wilkins book, Nanas Willow, one of the neighbors uses a vacuum powered milker on his WC.

Your missing the pulsator, claw, teat cups and shells and hoses for the bucket milker. Then you need a vacuum pump and a cow to use it on.
