 Topic: F2 with 630 corn head

I have been driving by a F2 on my way home from work but just noticed it had a 6 row head. Any one else using a head like that ? Will a F2 handle it ?

Today’s yields certainly would overwhelm an F2 but Allis did show them available with a 6 x 30 corn head.

We sold several. The unit needs larger lift cylinders and weights or 'fat back tires' for rear weight to keep wheelie pops to a minimum with an empty bin. . I would never put a 6 row head on a variable speed, only on a hydro. Just as with 4 row heads on K2's you have to go slow. The input from a 6 row head can be slowed to the crop input level of a 2 row head when the speed is reduced... common sense is also a requirement as to harvest speed...

Saw one a year and a half ago at a consignment sale, had a black 630 head and probably 800? pounds of factory weights and bracket on the hind axle. I think they were 170 type weights 8 to 12 of of them, not how many. At least 4 on each side of the axle. First time i had ever saw one set up like it. That head made machine look small, i think it had bigger back tires too like tbran said

in good corn you'll need to unload in middle of field.It's a dumb idea.Extra weight,hard on finals....no advantage.Run 4-30's and be happy.

I agree with Steve. Back in the day we had an "F" with a 4 row corn head. That was plenty for the F. Had to have weight brackets installed & add weights to the rear axle. When we went to narrow rows we bought an M2 with an adjustable 6 row 28 inch head. The M2 did a good job with the 6 row head.

My dad owned two F2's that I believe were consecutive serial number combines. When he sold the first one it went west to a larger farm and they fitted a 630 head off of a M2 on it. Owner said it worked good in their operation.

I run one on mine actually runs easier than the 4rw I had it had been cut down to 30” but wasn’t right. Yes need weights n a full fuel tank and first gear maybe little over half on variable and handled 210 bushel corn fine. Mine has trimpe bars and 6cyl diesel so only place had any trouble is clean grain won’t handle it but with a lil sense I get along well and no more folding the ladder to open up like with 4rw
