For those that have been at farming a great deal longer than I:
We are looking to add a disc and a drill to our little piece of heaven, I have a 180D brother in law has a 600 Ford gas, any recommends? I am considering a 10 foot wheel disc or a real brute IH 3 point 8 foot I have seen, as to the drill will a grass box add much value and how wide is a good fit? We are only working about 25acre (so far). I hope to add a drag combine later and a baler sooner. |

180D should handle a 12' wheel disc fine,I have a 10' Case Drill I got free and have sowed oats, wheat and soy beans, has single disc openers, does a good job.

Thanks Bob, I am heading up to Vandalia Mo next week to scout out a few implements, hopefully they aren't total messes for the money. Guy has a 7' 3pt Allis disc, which by photo looked to be a SC conversion, he also has 12 and 14 foot wheel discs with folding wing gangs but no photos as well a couple older single disc opener drills of various companies.
We don't do much ground so older/smaller equipment should last awhile. |
