I have a 1977 L2 with the three wire auto header height control without the three position ahhc switch in the cab. Just on and off. I just bought a 1987 320 flex head and it has the three position 6 wire header height control. I have a 1979 or 1980 (I think) parts machine with the three position ahhc switch but I have no idea if it's still any good, but I know mine works. How do I make them work together, can I pick one of the contacts on the header switch and use that with my up, down and power wires on the combine? Or do I switch to the three position switch box from the parts machine and put it in my combine? Third option is the bell crank type thing with two micro switches, either take it off my series 2 head or make my own.
Second question, reel speed. My series two head has a variable speed pulley on the head with a hydraulic hose from the combine to control it. From what I can see the 320 head I've bought had wires going to the header to control the reel speed. How does this work and how do I make my combine run it. Also needing to put a new floor under the auger. Feather sheets look good. Does someone make a plastic floor kit to go under the auger? We riveted in a new stainless floor on my series two head but it wore out much faster where it meets the combine than it should have, we had the stainless sheets bent up and we riveted it in over the old floor. Did have the reel off and auger out at the time so was easy, plastic should be easy enough to do with the auger in I'd think? Thanks in advance |

Floor on the header. Grain bin I did with 1/8" steel a few years ago and still looks like new. Do you have a kit for the flex header auger trough? |

I think you can use the headers 3-position plastic switch assembly on your old UP/DOWN system on the combine, but the higher amperage may fail the springs in time, where the 3-position module was made for low amperage at those three springs. The reel speed system should be a tank and pump and orbit motor on the header. A self-contained system separate from the combine. I'd have to look in a newer L-2-3 owners manual at the wiring diagram, but I think it is just two wires coming from the existing reel speed rocker switch in the cab.
