Just curious how everyone feels about using gas with 10% (or more) ethanol in their old gas tractors. I have been making an effort to buy "pure" gas for my tractors, lawn mowers, chain saws, etc. The pure gas is getting harder and harder to find. I think the Co-Op is one of the few places left around here for me to get the pure stuff and it is 12 mile round trip drive out of the way to get it. I use E10 gas in my Toyota truck but it is a lot newer than the tractors. I worry about water absorption and the soft goods in the carburetors of the tractors.

I burn it in everything. I did have trouble with a old walk behind lawn mower that had all the crap come loose in the tank and plug up the carb. Other than that I had no troubles with anything older that had been used on a regular basis. If its been sitting a few years then you will probably have crud come loose.

If you have any preexisting dirt in your system it will cleanit out. I've used in my tractors for over 20 years with no problems. Only time I've had water absorbtion was when I was deployed and my wife left the tractor in the middle of the yard during a 3 week rainstorm. I just drained the setiment bowl a couple times all the water was absorbed in the bottom and started it first pull on the crank.
