Almost lost another, our final dog last week.  He was moping around, having stress issues, diarrhea, not eating.  So last Friday he went to the vet, they noted was REALLY sick, and suspected pancreatitis.  Looks as though the wife and I gave it to him by feeding him Pork cuttings.

BAD JUJU

So he is back home, had a four day spa treatment recovering and getting meds where at 14 he is now on one STRICT Diet of Skinless cooked chicken, and veges.  ONE single Treat(Hard) a day and NO Bacon like treats or any dog food with pork or beef byproducts.  Poor old soul is just so hungry all the time now.

It seems the worst thing we do is let them have scraps. One dog we had developed diabetes from it. Insulin shot every day for 3yrs. Went blind but still wanted to search for varmints. She even found a deer I’d lost in the woods in that condition. Take care and follow vets advice

Dave, glad your pup is still around and doing better. Sadly sometimes in trying to love them we are doing them harm. My lab loves treats, double cheeseburgers and ice cream and I have to keep reminding myself not to overdo it.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

i too am glad you were able to catch the problem with your buddy before it was to late. we give our dogs treats...but they are steamed carrots, they work good to give pills to them too if needed. they is all natural and don't have the other junk ingrediants in them you get from the store bought ones. oh...and read the labels on the store bought treats and rawhide chews...if they come from china...don't give it to your dogs...they wanna kill us and our pets.

You know,,Shameless,,you may have a great point there,,,I just got a new pup to sleep in ole Hungry's dog house. She is another Great Dane, all black with two white paws,,and,,,and,,,she is gonna be a BIG dog,,,her father weighed over 190 lbs and her mother weighed 173,!!  I had a heck of a time breaking her from chittin on the porch but finally got her to go on the yard but she still wants to go too close to front door,,,,LOLLOL
When we first got her home at 8 weeks, she had a bad case of the chits even tho I was giving her what the PO started her on. She's some better now but I am gonna check out the origin on the bag next time and what I bring home won't be China,,!!
