Mine is dual PTO but I believe at first the 7050 was available as 1000 only. I think my 1973 sales brochure shows 1000 only. I don't think I have ever seen a 1000 only 7050 but I haven't gone looking for it very much either.

Pretty sure things went like this: All 7030/7050's were 1000 RPM PTO as standard equipment. They had to have a PTO drive inside the rear end for the hydraulic pumps to work, so the PTO was standard, but at 1000 RPM. The 540/1000 feature was always an option and most dealerships ordered that on 7030's for sure. By the time the 7040 was introduced, 540/1000 was now standard equipment on the 7040. I've probably seen more 7050's with 1000 only versus 540/1000.

I THINK the 7030/7050 were the FIRST of AC BIG HP tractors to offer a "Fully independent dual 540/1000 rpm PTO?? So MAYBE 210 & 220 did not offer that?
Quotes from the February 1973 AC 7030/7050 sales brochure: "Fully independent dual 540/1000 rpm PTO is standard on 7030. You change from one speed to the other by just removing six capscrews and reversing the stub shaft. There's no chance of a mistake because the holes on the inner or outer ring of the flange only match the holes on the inner or outer ring of the housing when the correct end of the stub shaft is inserted. Since stub shaft receptacle is a dry socket, there's no loss or contamination of oil when shaft is changed." "Fully independent 1000 rpm PTO is standard on the 7050 . . . optional on the 7030. You get the standard PTO speed at the rated engine speed of 2300 rpm. On some tractors you have to throttle back and sacrifice drawbar pull to operate PTO at a standard speed." 1973 Standard equipment PTO listings: - independent 540/1000 rpm PTO on 7030. - Independent 1000 rpm PTO on 7050. 1973 Optional equipment PTO listing: - Independent 1000 rpm PTO on 7030. Guessing things changed as time went (mid-late 73 or 74??) as DrAllis stated & then 7050 could have had either PTO? Edited by AC7060IL - 29 Jun 2021 at 9:31am |

The 210/220 was fully independent PTO, with hydraulic clutch and brake, but was only 1000 rpm.
