I bought my 917 at an auction sale, it was said that it was a year old at the time. That fall I bought a new snow thrower for it, which was a Deutz Allis and green. I always felt that the tractors were the same just painted green and rebadged.

The DA 1920 is a Green Simplicity Sunstar.  These came out after Simplicity stopped making the Powermax series (AC sold theses as the 720 etc).

The 1920 uses a Peerless Differential, the housing is aluminum and should have a Hi Lo option as well as differential lock.  These had a reputation as being "bullet proof" and were used in several models by different manufacturers including (dare I mention it?) JD

The later Sunstars had Hi/Lo but no differential lock.

Think this was after they stopped selling the DA 1920
