Got the dang tooth pulled today. Dang, $430.00 dollars later for jerking 1 tooth. At least his assistant was super sharp looking and knew a few things about honey bees.

The cost of the work this fall for a root canal and a couple crowns would have almost paid for a new car in 1974! Yea they get paid well!

Asked why these cost so much when had last tooth yanked instead. Showed me a set of tiny files they use to remove the root nerves, the little set of six is $1200 his cost. Cost of Malpractice Insurance for tools and materials suppliers is brutal where a tooth can be infected and be forced to lose it anyway where many people file malpractice cases against. He had one where a .002 sliver of one file broke away and did not catch it even on xrays, once tooth root is filled the tiny piece is just part of the filling. Tooth to jaw got irritated and he had to remove it where the client sued and insurance just pays. Won $25000 pain and suffering and cost of RC but not extraction. He is no longer allowed in that office either.
I am at the age if teeth get that bad, Out they come.

Hey, I resemble that remark. Depends where you live but 430 does sound high. I am 150 for a routine and 285 if I have to pick up a sheet metal hammer and a drill. I had one of of those dental assistants for a while. Couldn't get the patients to stop turning their heads to the left.

That is sounding cheap to me. But maybe my price is higher cause it already had a root canal 20 years + ago. But regular dentist only does fillings and crowns. Root canals and extractions are different specialists that that is all they do.
I hope my bad tooth lasts another month without really hearting cause that is as soon as they want to do it. Maybe they want more since we have dental insurance from my wife's teaching days. But they are talking right at 800.

I was told about how they clean your teeth now. They don't use water and they don't use the suction tube. They use gauze to wipe your teeth and you swallow everything else. I guess Dentists shouldn't have gotten rid of those little round sinks they used to have by the chair? I'm not going in until everyone gets this vaccine.

I have a basic dental insurance with my Medicare supplemental insurance - pays for 2 cleanings , exam , x rays - but when I went in to have a cleaning - NOPE won't do it as you need deep cleaning and scaling - Asked to just have a regular cleaning - NO CAN'T DO THAT MUST DO deep cleaning - $1500 for that and not covered -
I said I don't have a full set of teeth in so called each 4 quadrants , was told if there is 1 tooth in a quadrant you pay just like they all are there - SET PRICE - no discount for missing teeth . When I was leaving receptionist handed me a note - said go to local college, along with phone number to make appointment - they charge $50 for cleaning as part of their hygienist program . |

friend who winters in Arizona came back this spring and I noticed his teeth , seems while wintering over he went down to Mexico and got dentures - Said he paid less to have full upper denture made along with extractions needed than what local dentist here wanted to extract 2 teeth .
Said the dentist was a US Citizen who had practice there in Mexico , was licensed both in the US and Mexico but preferred to practice in Mexico . |

Get mine cleaned twice a year, no dental insurance all out of pocket. Hygienist does a great job and easy on the eyes. She is an Air Force veteran and spent most of her time as part of the Security Forces at a missile site so I try not to agitate her too much.

I have seen a lot of dentistry from countries in the southern hemisphere. Mexico, Costa Rica, and most of south America. Usually it is a better than most of the insurance driven crap state side. If you have the time , the best value is going to a hygiene school for cleaning or a dental school for the big stuff. Especially the midwestern schools, Marquette, Minnesota, southern Illinois Iowa, and Indiana. Great schools for practical dentistry

Went to another different office and told sis not see any reason for scaling. Will no longer be using the previous office. Edited by DMiller - 15 Apr 2021 at 4:21am |

there is no more abused procedure in dentistry than the deep scaling. Aspen dental has never seen a patient that doesn't need it. Hard to beat the value you get for going to a dental hygiene school to get your teeth cleaned. It might take a little more time but price wise, hard to beat and the quality is great

When I went to my old dentist that retired and had my teeth cleaned the plaque was all taken off down to the tooth and you could feel the shape of the tooth and your teeth were whiter now the plaque isn't totally remove and the teeth are never whiter.

[QUOTE=dr p]there is no more abused procedure in dentistry than the deep scaling. Aspen dental has never seen a patient that doesn't need it. Agreed 100%!!! That procedure is almost enough to make me QUIT going to the dentist! Seemed to have started about 15 years ago.

Went to Aspen dental, once. They told me the same thing, wanted $1400. never went back. Talked to other people, they all told me the same story of their experience. |

To be honest, the concept of "expensive" is different for each person and is very relative. For someone, cheese with mold is expensive, and he eats only locally produced Dutch. And someone is expensive to buy a Tesla, and he drives a "simple" Toyota. Here you can talk long and tedious… But you can not save on your health. Considering all the fears and inconveniences of dental problems, the vast majority of people want the most comfortable solution to the problem. But the bad treatment is immediately visible - the seal fell out after a week or the tooth was treated, and it hurts again. And people who return to the same clinic to continue treatment are always amazed. Don't do that. My family visits https://smileworkshop.com/dental-services/orthodontics / and I can safely advise you this.

AH - Aspen dental - Went there and they did the FREE X ray and then estimate in the little office with the FINANCE lady - had a plan all worked out - Just needed to sign the agreement and qualify for their finance plan -
Asked how much - Instead got their plan of what next - SO ASKED HOW MUCH Figured the first part with 2 extractions and some other came to $10,000 Said a wisdom tooth was partially with root under other tooth and no charge for the extraction of that one . HMMMMmmmmm - left without signing anything - QUICKLY Another dentist ( Another Mega Chain around here ) they did 3 fillings $800 - and about 2 months later one of my bridges broke lose - noticed why as the gold on the bridge had 2 holes in it and the tooth material under had decayed - broke the other anchor tooth also - ( another outfit to AVOID ) Metro Dental here in MN - same outfit I mentioned above with the scaling and deep cleaning .
