Dr Brix said the NEW CASES will start dropping below 30,000 daily, but DEATHS will continue to increase and peak about 2200 on April 12.... She seems to be VERY CLOSE.
Most of the deaths are people who have been in hospital on ventilators for 2 weeks.

Been brought up as to the Virus being treated with a Racial Bias, blacks dying More often than whites. I asked a pertinent question and thought the tar and feather community would be unleashed. Blacks TYPICALLY have a greater rate of anemia, Morbid obesity, heart disease, they have sickle cell issues in 1 of 13 children, there is a LONG list of issues that present them as having 'Preconditions' that allow a further progression of all manner of diseases. Not a Racist bias, but a race inherent problem.

'racial bias' ? yeesh, I'd see it more as an urban vs. rural problem. Though I've never seen the 'numbers', I suspect there's a HUGE number of urbanites getting cv19 compared to rurals.

as for the 'Chinese' slant... that's a geographical thing NOT a race issue...

Its both.... Rural areas are seeing a LOT LESS SPREAD as compared to the cities.. Also the BLACK community is centralized in the CITY and as Dave said, they have more "medical" problems than some other groups.. Some of this is hereditary, some is being poor and less available to health care, some is the environment they live in...

Again, USA deaths are approaching 2,200 per day as those who have been in the intensive care die after 2- weeks.  The TOTAL deaths are expected to continue into may - june- july, but dropping on the DAILY RATE.... TOTAL DEAD we heard  4 weeks ago were GUESSED to be 2 million this summer... TOTAL DEAD 10 days ago were MODELED to be 100,000..... Now the MODEL is down to about 60,000 due to SOCIAL DISTANCING...  WE get close to that number of deaths every year due to the normal flu, so we are making great progress..

I was reading an article on something about the "Chinese Flu", and found this down in the replies section.

"The reason for the very high numbers in some projections is this virus is 1) highly contagious and 2) no one has any immunity because it’s brand new. So it will inexorably spread until enough people develop antibodies to it either from catching the disease or being vaccinated against it roughly a year from now.

In technical terms, it will spread until each case infects less than one other person (R naught < 1). Then it will die out. Social distancing can artificially create this scenario, but will have to be maintained until enough people (probably more than half of the population) have antibodies. That could take a long time. So the current slow-down in cases doesn't mean that we have this under control, just that people are staying home.

A helpful development is the new blood test to see who has antibodies. This number could be quite high it seems many cases are asymptomatic. These folks can then safely re enter social and economic life."

X2......or maybe X1000!!!

The importance of getting these antibody tests out there cannot be stressed enough. Like on the level of the importance of the Manhattan Project in WW2.

What social distancing accomplishes is to slow the rate of infection to a manageable level.

But once 10% have been infected, you only have 90% to go. When you get to 30%....only 70% to go, etc. Once you get on the downside of the curve, the rate of infections slows way down. At some point, it's time to take transmission out of park and put the truck back in gear. But how do you know where you are in all this without some kind of test?

This would be like trying to vaccinate 1000 cows in one pasture with a dart gun, and not keeping any records. If you are just driving around darting random cows, how do you know when you got em all?

BTW, are there any graphs associated with these numbers? Graphs show trends.......and are much more helpful than just plain numbers.......which at some point cease being comprehensible without some form of context.

modirt... go to the chart above and each COUNTRY is a link to  additional data from that country.. Hold the mouse over the NAME and click on the COUNTRY... There are GRAPHS that show their RATE of infection and deaths.. You can see the TREND in Europe is starting to go over the hump.. Looks like the USA is just approaching that point..

Gary, i think you went 36 hours, not 12. ..

. Still, not a good day... We seem to be approaching the peak or at it ..... 30- 33K new cases  somewhat steady... 1900 deaths per day.. somewhat steady.
