The D19 I am working on is missing the D19 traction booster control cable. How does this cable mount on the back exactly and where does it connect in the pump in front. All I have is what you see in the picture. I'm sure I can get someone to make me up a cable but it would be better if I knew what it looked like and the routing etc. so that I can put it back to factory. Thanks for any help.

Does yours have two levers on the left side of the steering wheel? I'm assuming it only has one...

I'm not sure about where the traction booster cable hooks into but I know it won't be anywhere in that picture. The booster control will hook into someplace near where the 3pt arms attach to the tractor or near the snap coupler bell if it has snap coupler. The area you are showing should be where a position control hook into.

You dont need that cable for the traction booster to work. All that cable is there for is to keep tdh arms up during roading, when the arms are below 1/3 down the cable and linkage attached to it have no function. The front of the cable goes to a small lever under the fuel tank, it comes up the right side and thru the right side panel under the fuel tank. HTH

One thing you have to do to make the Traction Booster work is remove the "U" shaped block from the spring in front of the bell. I think Skip was the guy who fixed my problem with that? LOL,. Since I have been to two differant plow days were guys were working with 19s, one had owned the tractor a long time, and I removed the blocks from both of them so theirs would work.

I believe I see where the cable is supposed to be attached in the front. I understand that it is only to give make up oil when the implement behind is in the fully raised position so that it doesn't lower while being transported. I just knew I was missing it and if I get a plow for this D19 that I may need it. I just thought that if I could see what I'm missing I could fab something up and make it functional again.
![]() And yes it only has the one control lever on the dash.

Chuck before you try to run down a cable make sure that lever will move. Ours is stuck fast and I didnt want to dissasemble half the tractor to free it. Cable was NLA at our dealer anyway. Ours doesn leak down anyway, maybe the only one ever?

Butch, the pump is on the bench right now in pieces and hopefully a good used one will soon be on it's way, so I will look into that lever and what it moves on the bottom side before I get the pump back in place. I'm glad I started looking at this and you said that so I can take care of things now. |

I don't have a good picture of that in my files, but could take one sometime. As others have said it is not necessary for anything other than to help keep the arms up, since you only have the one lever on the left side. The later ones or ones that have had the field installed position control lever, two levers on the left, it may be more useful. Also as the others have said that cable is no longer available and it is very difficult fo find one in good enough condition to make a copy of. I do have one or two working cables on tractors with the position control and a few not so good ones in the shed... someplace... maybe... LOL
FYI the parts book page 260 or agcopartsbooks.com D19 Tractor Hydraulic System - Control, Position Control Cable shows a decent picture of how it would have looked like. |

thanks for the info Travis. on the agco site, on that picture, it states, EFF. TRACTOR S/N 12850 & UP. My serial number is 6221, so was my tractor not originally equipped with it? And if it wasn't then why do they have that screw in piece on the lift levers like on the later model tractors?

Your's has what is called the makeup oil control found on the bottom of page 256. The set up and attaching parts are similar, just shows them better on the tractor in the position control picture.
