seal that came out is 262fm124 C/R looks to be unobtainium the replacement agco #70229966 or 229966 if that makes you feel better. Seems the only seals available are about half the thickness(.750 vs .313) and lack what looks like a felt portion. what replacement seals are you guys using? are you double stacking them? filling it with 85-140 oil or 00 grease ?
i know i am overthinking this but id like to keep the oil in it for as long as possible

Double stack two new seals and forget about it. You can't run anything heavy in that gearbox unless it's a 170 or D-series without power steering.

This is the reservoir for your P-S fluid so, like the good doctor says, you can't put any type of grease in there.

On the mighty first generation One-Seventy's, the steering gearbox/bolster is just that...a gearbox. The power steering is getting its oil from the torque tube as it is a hydrostatic system with a triple section gear hydraulic pump hanging in the belt pulley hole..
