Hi, The clutch collar broke on my D-17. I am not really set up to split the tractor and wondered if it is possible to go in the side door and push the trans into high or low range and have it stay there? Wishful thinking, I know.

Absolutely not.  You need to split it.

Yes, but would be better to get all the crap out from the failure and repair it. You will accidentally move lever and go back to N.                     MACk
