I changed oil in the tractor a while back and know it leaks out the side of the filter. There is only one gasket on it and its tight. I have the same oil filter I have used for 7 years on it. I also tried a new gasket and it did the same thing. Any help would be helpfull thanks.

You don't have something under the gasket between it and the filter base do you?

Same thing happened to me. I cut another gasket out of gasket material and now have two gaskets in there and it works fine. Kraig (WI)

I'm new to AC tractors, I bought a D-17 from a relative. Does anybody know the approximate weight of one of these.
I haven't seen it, so all I know is that the motor is stuck and it's complete.
Wide front or narrow front, I'm not sure.
The price was great.
I have a 7,000 LB GVW tandem trailer. I'm hoping it will handle it.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I will be restoring it.
Thanks
Jeff

A 7000lb trailer would be pretty much maxed out. If the trailer has car tires, you would want to switch to an actual trailer tire.

Series I has a cartritge type filter. I have seen problems like this before. Could be a damaged cartritge or trash from the old gasket still in the base. I replaced my filter base with one off a 19. They use a spin on filter.

I just had the same problem but thought it might be from the NOS filters that I am using. I finally let it set overnight in oil and I think the rubber swelled up a little and then when I tightened it down it sealed.  I think I might  put one from a D19 on it...it was a royal PITA! That little drain plug on the side was sure some bright idea, too....
