I got my new-to-me NH 472 haybine hooked up yesterday, gonna use the d-17 [series 1], only 1 remote. I put a vent plug in the return port of cylinder. Seems I remember reading about chaining down the lift arms so as not to have a delay when wanting to raise the haybine. Anyone do this, & is there anything to watch for ?? Thanks in advance keith so. va.

I wouldn't chain them down, just drop the haybine, then move the lift lever to the hold position, and they'll stay up...

If they settle down on their own, tie them UP to the back of the seat frame so they stay up all the time.

Chaining down could really do some damage! Chaining up is a far better choice.

If you chain it down, every time you move the lever to the raise position you are putting a lot of pressure on the hydraulic hoses, lift cylinders, lift arms, rock shaft and whatever you chain to.
Remember that the Series 1 is the old high pressure hydraulic system. Edited by WF owner - 26 Jul 2020 at 9:50am |

Chain, wire, tie them UP Did it for years and it works perfect. If you don't secure them up they may slowly drift down. The haybine needs to float so make sure the lift/lower lever is all the way down when mowing.
