There is a plug installed in the block above the plate for an external fuel pump. It looks like a spot for a distributor in a gas block. Remove the plug and there is an addapter that slide into that machined hole that is driven by the oil pump gear. I'll walk out and get a pic and be right back.
Yea, I can fix that.....

Looks almost identical to a D17D tach drive.

I guess it should as the 15"s 175 CI engine is a 262 w/ less 2 cylinders. Both engines are Buda Diesels.
Also if you are looking for a tach setup for a Diesel you'll need a Diesel tach as they are driven the opposite direction a gas engine is.

BTW Brian, I love your signature line. It's like anything is possible in a world where some men can create their own rules...........

Are the 15 tachs smaller than 17 tachs? I never looked at mine close enough to notice a difference.

Must be a different face???? When I redid my 15D, a looked in the AGCO parts book and the 15D tach is different than the 17D series I-IV and also the 19D(part numbers are different)

I guess the question would be does the D15D turn the same max engine speed as a D17D? If the gearing was the same, a D17D tach ought to work. I'm 98 44/100% sure the main difference in a diesel vs a gas tach is they turn opposite directions. If he has to have his 15 tach repaired, I've heard that Metro Speedometer in Independence MO is good at restoring and calibrating old tractor tachs.

Thanks Dave. I joined a fraternity a while back and I can see a real difference in the values of the older guys vs many younger people today. Some stuff that is pretty common today just was absolutely a non option a generation ago. I spotted that quote on another site and when I think about it and compare it to history, along with some of my past life experiences, I believe it to be very true.
