Nice jig, Jay. Did you try the extended studs as guides when you reinstalled this side?

I could get it far enough so brake drum was over the shoes and really alignment of the studs wasn't the issue, more 'something' inside wasn't lining up. I know th esplines were good, could feel the gear spinning when I turned the hub. I'm thinking it's gotta be bang on up-down, front-back, splines proper THEN it'll slide in fine. Heck this is only the 2nd final I've ever done( probably the last...). It'd be neat to see HOW they did in on the assembly line. The jig really helped, maybe 1/2 hr of fighting instead of 3 long hours... Maybe 2 , 6" long studs would be better ? I KNOW I ain't goin to tear this apart to try ! dang back's a mess and no leftover parts... |

Glad it went back together, Jay, even though it sounds as though it was a bit of a fight. Hope the repairs hold up for a LONG time!
