This little tractor is on display (along with some other brand X tractors) at our local vegetable stand.

Anyway, I fell in love with this little beauty immediately!!
I was really impressed with the ruggedness of the 3PH system.
Without the decal or the ser. number, is there a way to determine whether its
a D-10 or D-12?

Ain't that prettier than a new set of snow tires....I don't know and I am no expert.... but a guy told me the d10 did not have spin out hubs.

Spin-out rims were standard on the D-12; optional on the D-10.

Looks like a D12 Series III, serial 9001 +, has 14.9x24 rear and heavier 15 inch front(car rims) which were an option, optional tach, spin outs- optional, lights-?.
Check the lift links, look to be adjusted all the way out which may indicate the threads are stripped.

I have been advised to look over the 3 point real close if you are buying. Some parts seem less than rugged compared to the lift force available from them cylinders.

Yes, it appears to be a D12 III. Notice the arched flat stock piece that runs from the top of the front axle back to the wishbone-shaped axle support/brace. A picture of the other side should reveal the dual-link D12 III steering linkage as opposed to the single link on a D10 III.
Notice that it has the coveted Series III throttle lever cover which is missing on most units (including mine). I have been tempted to have one reproduced, but am holding out for an original. |

If you look at the middle ( #2 posted), look at the right side between the lift link and tire, the axle has two bosses protruding out where rear mounted SC implements were mounted; mower, cultivator, etc. The D10 has only one of these.
Absolutely a D12, other items in pics won't change anything.

Well Joe, the fact that the final drive housing part numbers are different between the D-10 and D-12 seems to confirm what you are saying.
The next time I'm in the area, I will make a point of writing down the serial number to identify the year of manufacture.
