Thanks to my new found friend Austin (WI) I have a D-19 tach drive gear coming. And I would like to suggest Virginia Vettes as a source. Super nice people and $25 delivered to your door. Just google the name to get the web site and contact info.

Never fear Austin, LOL. When I was looking over the 'Vette sites for a deal on the gear I see that the main shaft for the chebby distrib is available too for not too bad money as is the bronze bearing/ guide that the short shaft rides in. I dont have one in front of me but going from the pic it looks to be usable to easily make a D-19 shaft out of.  I had to re-bush my distributer and my mainshaft gear is good. I have a lathe and mill and can make the vette shaft work  if they are not available from AGCO or they want to rape you for it. Let me know if youneed some help with it.

After further review. I ordered one of these "corvette" gears and found out they are not the same as the D19 drive gear, the "corvette" one is 0.030" smaller in diameter on the gear and doesn't mesh with the dist. drive gear very well. it might work at first but probably not for long.

As much as I hate to be the bearer of bad news, usually its the main shaft gear that wears the drive gear out. Did quite a few of the 1112615 Distrib's and both were wiped out. I would suggest pulling the Distributor and disassembling the unit and pull the main shaft out for a good inspection. You'll probably find its also toast. Better than ruining a new drive gear and having to buy another drive gear. Its sorta' like having a wiped out rear end pinion gear and not replacing the ring gear also.... Just my 2 cents...

Did you try it Matt? Mine needle was very jumpy when it was running so i stopped and took it out and noticed that the distributor gear was pretty roached..and was missing teeth.

Steve,

As you probably saw in my prior popst it doesnt look like it would take much to adapt the long shaft out of the 'vette either, at least for a guy who knows his way around a lathe and mill.
