Anyone know where I can find an auxiliary transmission for an AC D motor grader?
Thanks,
Dave Merrill

Dave, it may be a tall order. I have made similar requests in the past few years and have not had any success. I keep hoping that I will run across a parts machine with the auxiliary transmission. In the mean time I just make do and end up running the engine quite slow in tight situations. It is still capable of spinning the four drive wheels even at a fast idle. One option that may be a slight help is to buy the smallest diameter tires you can that will fit your wheels. The drive tires should be all the same size as these graders do not have a differential. All four drive wheels are locked together.
A couple of years ago someone took out their crown and pinion gears. One responder to that post said that they were a weak point and they thought that the crown and pinion were common to some truck rear end. Unfortunately this was never confirmed but if they were common to a truck rear end it might be possible to to get a different ratio that would slow it down.

I've been using my friends D special grader equiped with all the options including the step down transmission. It sure makes a world of difference for fine grading.
