Today is the 77th anniversary of the Normandy invasion. Sad to say there was little to no mention of it by the lamestream media. These were young men, some still teenagers, that faced almost certain death with courage and determination to answer the call of their country. Our Nation needs to pause to remember their sacrifice and the sacrifice of their families. Our Pastor graciously took time during our morning service to honor them.

10 days after Normandy another D-Day occurred on the other side of the world in the Marianas with the invasion of Guam and Saipan. Lest we forget!

Yes, those folks made sacrifices most can not comprehend. Dad and Mom always mentioned D-day, Pearl Harbor and other WWII events and what they were about on the appropriate dates. Dad and two brothers were in the Navy and Marines during the war and Mom worked for the Navy as a civilian at a facility that built LST"s. If we didn't learn about a lot of history in school we heard it at home.

Alas, that is the normal for the mainstream media anymore. What ever happened to the so called monopoly companies breakups? They did it to Ma Bell way back when. Now these companies are HUGE compared to that. I think all media are owned by 2 or 3 families? This is WRONG!! We don't get the truth and they don't teach it in public schools, at least not here. ![]() To the memories of all these young lads, THAT is what Memorial day is all about.

@klinemar; Both of my uncles (Mom's brothers) were US Navy WWII veterans. One was an electricians mate on the USS Finback (was on board when they rescued GHW Bush after his plane was shot down) and the other served on an escort carrier and was there during the battle of Saipan. He's still alive, just turned 98.

JTool, tell your Uncles thanks from me! This Memorial Day I remembered two family members killed in World War Two. On my dad's side was Charles Kline from Fulton County Ohio who was killed in Febuary 1943 when the troop ship he was on was torpedoed by a German U boat and sank. On my mother's side was John Ferguson frm North Adams Michigan a B24 bomber pilot who died over Salzburg Austria June 9th 1944 when his bomber hit by Anti Aircraft fire exploded. As with most families we had relatives in all branches of service. My father was in the Army and served in Italy. Another of mother's cousins was in Burma with Merril's Marauders.

To think, the USA fought a 2 Front War, the 2 fronts half way around the world from each other, in the 1940's!!!! Neither foe was a pushover. That concept never ceases to AMAZE me!!! |

And here we are today, hackers shut down 1/3 of the country's fuel supply, and shut down the largest meat packing company; as well as we've shut down much of the transportation manufacturing and other computers by chip shortages. Our country has been crippled without ever setting foot into our country. Do you think we'd ever be capable of mobilizing our nation to support a war like was done in WWII???? |

OMG no, not a chance could we do that. How long did our unity last after 9-11? A year, maybe?? Beyond sad, the situation you're talking about. What a state of mess we're in.
