Bought a 16 Toyota RAV4.  The oil filter is the old fashioned cartridge type which takes a special tool to change.  The original cover is plastic.  I bought the tool and a metal cover for it.  It has a bolt in the bottom of the filter housing that you remove, and then screw in a plastic drain that comes with the new filter.  Sure is a lot better than taking off a spin on full of oil!

I am grateful it uses full synthetic that only needs to be changed every 10,000 miles.  It looks as good going in as it does coming out.  It recommends 0w20 oil. Surprised me, I 'd never heard of such a thing before. I'll probably change that up in the summer to 0w30 or 5w30.

Do a you tube search.  I'm sure there will be a video on there showing how to do it.

FREEDGUY I hear ya, daughter bought a Scion, had to google it to find the oil filter and then a trip to Autozone to buy a wrench to fit the plastic cover.  Battery went bad in wife's Buick Elantra a month before we traded it, had to google that too, found it under the floorboard, passenger side, back seat.  Google and youtube are your friends and I'll bet the oil is 0w20.

Tadems, isn't that amazing.  My F250 is like $31 at the stealer but the wife's Toyo is like $96 at the Toyo stealer.

The Toyo oil is 10K and the Ford oil is 7500 miles.

I pay the ransom at Toyo to make sure the life time power train warranty is good.  Confused

my old lady.....ooooops.....i mean my loving wife, used to always change the oil and filters on her S10 pickup and her old burb. she says that she can afford to have it changed by our mechanic now and while she's at work, he comes after it, and delivers it back before she comes home from work! the newer vehicles have been designed by the factories to make it harder for the owners to do it themselves, that way their dealers can make more $$$.
