Going to be traveling from Ontario to South Carolina on business via I 90 and I 79. Anyone know of a good, decent sized Cat dealer along the way. Need transmission bearings etc.. parts for my old D4. Tried shipping in from the States but ran into some rule that one Cat dealer can't ship into another 's territory. Unfortunately, my area Cat dealer is very large and scary expensive. Thought I'll try to stop in and buy over the counter. Any thoughts would be certainly appreciated.

You may be better off using a independent shop for parts, bearings especially . I bought most of the parts for my D6-9U from a small repair shop in Osseo MN , Northern Tractor.
He had everything i needed or got it in a day or so.
Yes CAT plays that deal of not selling outside their area, so if you have problems with dealer , your up the creek ..
Another source might be Northern Engine out of Duluth MN, or Crawler Welding in Mankato MN
Can also check for Rock and Dirt on web, they have many dealers for Cat parts listed as aftermarket suppliers.

If you have the generic part numbers that are stamped on the bearings I can get you any brand you want but I mainly sell Timken. You can go to Froedge.com or email me at j.proffitt@froedge.com. We will be glad to help you avoid the Cat prices. Check out our new website. We are picking up new customers daily from around the nation. I am the parts manager there. We deal direct with several manufactures and pass the savings along to the customer.JP
