It looks like my custom drawbar bail system is going to limit lower travel to about 11.5 inches instead of what I read should be 8.5 inches for cat 1...that's at 22 inches from the pto. Is this likely good enough or do I need to get it lower? Was probably in spec before I decided to go with oversized tires I think I can make an adapter if I need it lower. I measured one mower and it would be on the edge.

At 11.5 inches my mower wouldnt reach the ground. Why not just lenghten the lift links

As I said, the custom bail design for the pin hitch drawbar limits the lower travel as is. I'm trying not to mod the ca parts but have it designed to quickly convert back to pin hitch since that's what most of the implements are...limits my design choices. A lower link adapter will be the easiest solution since it can't mechanically go any lower. I did get it to 10.75 inches if I can maintain the geometry. I read that some tractors have a 12 inch lower limit.

Some people should have just gotten a tractor that had a 3pt to start with For any implement that I own that are 3pt, they all have Snap couple adapters that stay attached to the implement. That allows them to hitch to any tractor I have

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |

I have the pin hitch wish bone design. I bought it from OK tractors. All of the home brewed 3pt adapters Ive seen have a bad design a mear 1" differance in lenght of any part makes a huge change in the final geometry. Ive thrown away a half dozen home mades that I removed. Either they didnt go low enough. Or didnt maintane the 14" pto lenght through the range. Or failed to maintain a level i.plment raising and lowering. A proper 3 pt works quite well a poorly designed is a pain to use. If your just using for mowing just leave the top link off and let the mower trail along on the ground. Since the CA dosent have independent hyd the lift is usless anyway the PTO must be operating to lft the deck.

I almost bought the wishbone device but the design was not to my liking (at all). I'm using the Cross Manufacturing (via OKT) model sold for the WD45 (and others). I'm making minor mods to adapt it (mostly the bail for the drawbar). It will have the required functionality. I'm well aware of the pseudo-live nature of the PTO/hydraulics of the CA. I have a functioning hand clutch again, and coupled with an overrunning/slip combo clutch should be just fine for my needs. My adaptation is relatively minor. If it turns out to need further adjustments, I'm fully able to design and build those adjustments. I expect there to be some minor hiccups. I don't expect any major issues. I've made every attempt to conform to ASAE/ISO standards such as they are. Of course, I also didn't expect the hydraulic pump to be so resistant to being brought back from its 40 year old death.

I've finished the "Ferguson" 3-point mods and painted all the parts. I'll install them next trip. I do have some minor accessories to finish up where the lift arm linkages attach to the CA lift arms. Should only take an hour or so. I developed a "floating" style attachment for the lift arm to implement attachment point that will lower the connection point to 7.5 inches (and allow all attachment points to "float" when that is desired). I can easily make it lower if necessary by making a longer floating link. Additionally, the only reason for the 10.5 inch limit on the lower lift arm position is because I left the original drawbar bail attached to facilitate rapid reconfiguration. I can easily remove the original bail when required. In that case, the lift arms will go all the way to the ground. I don't really like my new bail system, but it is much more robust than any alternative. I could have attached the original bail where the rockshaft mounts, but that would have been a less sturdy solution (and would have made impossible to lower the lift arms to the ground under any circumstances).
