this struck me as ,well, 'odd'.
Go to bank to get cash for new concrete pad, Ask for $7500. They have an inbank limit of $5K !,even though I have 'healthy' accounts. I get it, AFTER beiing 'grilled' AND signing paper that says they asked me a bunch of questions... yeah, what ever.. I ask, OK HOW do I get the other $2500. Manager say ,use the ATM. Huh, 'you mean the Johnny Cash machine ?, Yes, . OK, but if it eats my card I'll be in here real fast....
whrr,buzz, kilk, klak... I get the $2500, didn't get asked any questions, didn't need to sign any papers !
OK, the 'odd' thing.. The ATM is NOT owned by the bank !! I still shake my head over this. It's IN the same building, 12' from the tellers.

Yeah $2500 is a lot! Our ATM limits withdrawals to $200 so $2500 is 13 withdrawals!

Organized crime would not want to see a cashless society. Also hard to give a homeless guy or beggar a few bucks. Cops give cash to informants for info . Hell maybe a cashless society isn't so bad after all

ya same here. And it won’t let you do 13 withdrawals in a day either!

Varies by Bank, you Account and the CITY you are in...

High ATM withdrawal limits vary by bank but often range from $2,000 to $5,000+ daily, with banks like Capital One sometimes offering up to $5,000, while Chase might cap at $3,000, and lower limits (e.g., $300-$1,500) are common for basic accounts or other banks, depending on your specific account type, banking history, and the ATM itself. To get more cash, you can often request a temporary or permanent limit increase from your bank or withdraw in-person at a branch.
Typical High Limits by Bank;
  • Capital One: Up to $5,000.
  • Chase: Up to $3,000 (can start lower).
  • Citi: Around $1,500 to $2,000.
  • PNC: Often $2,500 or more, depending on account.

Small town rural area all around here. I don’t know what the dollar amount was, but was in the bank a few weeks ago and a customer was all sorts of pi55ed off that he couldn’t cash a cashier check he had. They were explaining to him that a check like that was for major purchases and not something you just walk in and cash with no notice. If I ever need more than a couple thousand I call ahead early in the day or better yet a day’s notice just so they know what I need and have it approved and ready. Helps that most of the employees know me by name.

That is exactly what I do. If I am headed to auction, or buying old vehicles, I set it up with bank day before. Simply put, small bank branches just don't keep larges sums of money on hand. They once asked me why I needed cash, I told them hard to bargin/haggle with a check!
