Edit: Hi, my 1952 CA seems to have a TSX-352 (Marvel-Schebler) carburetor. It isn't listed as stock for a CA (CA13092) in my repair manuals. I did find this referenced in some of the available carburetor repair kits (some say they are universal to the TSX series). Is the TSX-352 an acceptable carburetor or should I get another listed model? This one appears to have a tack welded throttle lever. I'm not sure if it was just wedged on or if it was a break repair. The weld mechanism leaves a little slop in the lever control so that it won't quite reach full throttle, but not by a lot.

It appears that the 352 model was for Hyster Forklifts.... Marvel had a couple different "BODIES" for carburetors.. The bolt pattern spacing, on the discharge to the intake manifold was the determining factor.. After you get one the BOLTS ON, then they change in throat insert to a specific diameter for air flow for a specific displacement motor... After that they have several different JETS that can be installed to fine tune the gas flow / air flow mixture for a given size motor. If you get a CARB that was setup for a 120- 130 cubic inch motor, it should work fine on a CA no matter what the "number " is.... Each vendor ( Allis , Hyster, ect ) will tell the manufacturer which side of the carb they want the throttle lever on, if it points up or down, and what side the choke lever is on... The MANUFACTURER then assigns a NUMBER (352) to that version of the carb. It is easy enough to pull the throttle lever off and reinstall in a different position and solder into place. ( if needed).. As long as the 352 BOLTS to the manifold, and seems to have enough air flow/ gas flow for your CA, it should be fine... The above reference site can give you a rebuild kit if you need it.

Yeah, sorry. The tag was missing but I found it later. The upper body is stamped 352, but the tag says TSX-486 (at least all the parts seem to be SOMEWHERE in dad's garage :). So I think I can order the rebuild kit without fear...I hope. The block, crankshaft, and head rebuild should be coming back any day now. I need at least a minimally working carburetor for the rebuild. If there is a better performing version that I should get (e.g. TSX 670?) I can do that later.

Here are some factory numbers.... 470 and 486 were to "original" used on the CA..... I really dont know, but my point was a 352 might be a 486 with the throttle put on upside down...

According to my notes, a TSX-352 came on the Wisconsin VD, VE, VF-4, and the VF-4D model engines. I rebuilt a couple of those over the years. The popular Carb that came on the CA would be the TSX-470. I sure rebuilt a lot of those over the years as well! HTH Steve@B&B

Thanks for the carb info Steve, i appreciate that. Im currently restoring a 52' CA. I have a bunch of those original Marvel S Kits still new in there original boxes from a farm sale we got years ago, just never got the chance to snatch an old parts book to look them up, anyways, thanks again for the info and that website link for part numbers, that will come in darn handy down the road.
