I just put on my crash helmet cause I know the rocks are going to start coming.
When someone advertises a tractor (fully restored) and has had hub caps added I get tickled. If ya like it buy it but I think it is funny when people make statments as if we's all dumb and wouldn't know the difference. (remanufactured) would be closer in my opinion but the (no smoke and no leaks) does not replace a statment of a (fresh engine rebuild) I actually like the looks of the tractor with all the added detail. I might even do those things but sure wouldn't call it (fully restored) This guy does not even call it a B I know the value of the dollar has dropped but I am really lost in the past if 75 grand is in reason. http://cgi.ebay.com/ALLIS-CHALMERS-TRACTOR-1950-YEAR-MODEL_W0QQitemZ110463069615QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Books_Manuals?hash=item19b81cadaf Edited by Dick L - 28 Nov 2009 at 12:14pm |

Not a bad looking tractor if you took the hub caps off.
They say there is a fool born every day.
He might just have to wait for him to grow up.
Then he might get the 7500.00

Could the hub caps have been a factory option for close couple crops like narrow row grapes? Something to keep the lug nuts from snagging those tender crops?

Gerald, No. Never were hubcaps on those tractors. Don't think any allis tractors ever had any kind of hub cap.

I'm pretty sure Gerald's comment was tongue-in-cheek, Morton. Edited by GBACBFan - 28 Nov 2009 at 4:26pm |

actually, I believe they did, the Country Doctors Special B did come with hubcaps, but they are pretty rare. Rarer yet is any surviving pictures of the Doc Special or the hubcaps. the origional Doc Special hubcap alone are probably worth enough to retire on

Hi Dick, Well I didn't think about a title for it. I thought it was way to high for no more than he said was done to it. Do you like the hub caps? I like Lou's post about the Dr's special. lol

Don, I not only like the hub caps I love to see the flashy detail put on tractors. I just take issue with connecting the words [original] and [restored] with the extra detail. Both of those words means as it came from the factory to tractor people like me.

I'm with you on using "original" or "restored" as the way to sale something that's been repainted and all dolled up and make it sound like the tractor has been totally rebuilt.
The good thing is We don't have to stand behind a sale like this. LOL
Dang I spelled this one without spell check too, I must be getting better at this typing thing. lol

Lou, I think you solved another hotly debated B topic with your post. Wasn't the Country Doctor Special B the only one to have wooden seat back as original equipment? I'm pretty sure I heard that somewhere.

Max, You have field ready mutts like I have. I think old tractors look better left looking old. New paint just takes away thier character. You spend the rest of your life wiping and rubbing the paint everytime something get's on it. I run them and park them. More time to drink beer.
