Brush Hog for an Allis 200

Ok all, it's time to get a brush hog for the 200. Now I know terrain and foliage are factors so let's just say that the terrain is mostly flat with the occasional rolling hill and that the foliage is typically waist high of weeds and Johnson grass and is relatively thick. I'm assuming a pull-type 10' ( Bush Hog 3210) should work fine but what about a 15' batwing?

Oh, I should mention the tractor is 540 only on the PTO.

For me it would depend on how much land I had to cut if you have a whole lot of acres
a bat wing would be the way to go but if your not cutting a lot and transport it on the public
road I'd go with a 8ft,my 10 ft is a pain on the road especially if there is much traffic.

My 4020 handles a 20' batwing nicely.

Looks like there's a consensus on 15' and even all the way to 20'. This unit will stay on one property so transportation won't be a concern.

Pretty sure it's 540 only. PO said it was and it also has the 3-bolt plate (540) vs the 4-bolt (540/1000)...am I understanding that correctly? I can upload a pic once I'm back at the house.

I mow a lot of ditches with a 15 ft bat wing. Any thing above 2.5 mph it dosent leave a clean cut. It dosent mater how much horsepower you have on it only so much material can clear at a time. Most of the time I use a 1086. 1086 is very comparable to an allis 200. When the wing is folded it trails down the road nicely. It's 20 miles from the farm shop to the furthes field and I mow about nine miles. Mowing CRP we use a 22 ft double fold behind the same 1086.the single fold wing is on the right of the center section. So you have a lot of offset to mow under trees and near fence rows. With an 8 or 10 ft it's centered behind the tractor so you need to get real close with the tractor. A 10 ft won't even mow the tracks of the tractor.
