Picked up some new rear spin-outs for my D17 and going to go ahead and splurge on new rear tires. Tire shop I do business with has some blemished Titan tires at about $250 each and $300 installed per.
Anyone ever run Titan tires? Should I be concerned about "blems"? They guarantee their structurally sound and appears to be an imperfection in the top of a bar. Figured this group would have some opinions

What is the cost difference? We tried to save money when 1 of 2 tires needed replaced, used a blem- my father bragged about saving 200$ back then. Moving up about 7 years, BFG no longer makes that tread/ tire size and the blemish tire rubber is separating at the seam, old tire is still good. Will have to replace with (2) new tires in order to have the same tires at the prices today. NO Warranty!! Just use caution

Well Scott said, "They guarantee their structurally sound and appears to be an imperfection in the top of a bar."
I presume the tires have a warranty. I would assume it's a dealer warranty and as such you could have that put in writing. Just be aware that if the dealer goes away, so does the warranty. Edited by DougS - 30 Jul 2019 at 2:04pm |

My 170 has titan fronts with a loader...they were on the tractor when I got it 3+ years ago....going strong
I do keep the tractor inside when not using it....I'm sure the sun will wreak any of them I think if I can get them when these do wear out or go bad I will put the same back on it Ocharry |

These pictures are from 2015. This tire is an Armstrong by Titan that Dad had bought at least 10 years prior to this. This tractor has not had the benefit of inside storage since this tire was put on and it has held up really well. It is just now in 2019 starting to show some small cracks in the rubber. He always asked for blems because of the price difference and we never had a bad experience with any of them on any of our tractors. Tire dealer will only sell/install/warranty blems that are cosmetic in nature. Structural blems are usually returned and not for sale to their customers. |

Great pics Lionel and thanks everyone for the comments. I've decided to give them a try. Costs is over 50% savings to new ones and even more when you look at pricing of other dealers. It'll be a bit before I get everything mounted to rims and then mounted to tractor but I'll try to remember to post some before/after pics.

I bought and sold blend many times. Most of the time you could not tell there was a problem. Sometimes the mold doesn't get cleaned out and there is a little cosmetic rubber damage. Absolutly nothing to worry about.

I'd be less worried about the blem part and more worried about the Titan.#notafan

Dad gets Titan blems from a place in Kansas I believe. Theyve been great tires and way cheaper to buy that way. Usually there has been defects in the warning labels on the sidewalls where the rubber smeared while they were being made. Havent had an issue with them yet. Theyve held up better than the GoodRears on my tractors.

I have a 23 year old tractor with the original Titans on it. They do have little dry cracks in them. I'm not going to complain, they are 23 years old. I'm pretty sure Titan did buy out Armstrong and Goodyear.
