Today my youngest of four, graduates from high school. I am plum wore out from bringing up 4 kids, and for the most part, and am glad to see it coming to an end. But on the other hand, another chapter of life is coming to an end, and am well into the next, with my oldest son being married already and having a grandson that is already one year old. I don't know how some of the families in previous generations had 10 to 12 kids. Man that would have been stressful. Guess times were different then. Darrel

Congratulations on bringing up four, now you can concentrate on being Grandpa, spoil 'em and send 'em back to mama and daddy. Raising kids these days is a lot tougher because of social media, crappy tv shows, and easy access to drugs. In the old days by the 4th or 5th the parents had learned what mistakes not to make and the older ones helped raise the younger ones. Plus the older kids made good field hands and house maids. LOL
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

It's not the end, just another beginning.
I thought about the same thing but was in for a rude awakening.

We have 3, all pretty close in age. When all 3 were little we had a system without even thinking about it and got all of them taken care of on the daily routine. I used to see a couple with a new born about to loose there chit because of the stress and we had 3 and was no different than matching a pair of socks.

Now...with 6 grand kids, things have changed. Must be because I'm older and feel like the new parents about to go bat chit crazy at times. Some things are easier.

By some act from the heavens we a free this weekend. They are all doing there own thing. Any given day of the week we have at least 2 here. Not bad to have them around, just............there is no sound of one of the them hollering for something or the injustice of being shot in the ear with a Nerf Dart. Hide the zip ties, they are nothing but trouble.

Darrell,
Stress not my friend, statistically speaking, at least one, and possibly two will return to the nest!!! Mom and I had adapted to empty nest pretty quick, but,
I'm here to tell you those statistics held true here in my castle, and the last one brought her husband and four grandkids to live for two years. I love them, but I would rather love them from "across town".

All together, three out of the four returned for a period of time.
I am still confident of this;
I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord;
be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27

The ONLY advice I'll give you Darrel is because I am a GREAT Grandfather,,,,,ENJOY EM!!  They are grown TOoooo soooonnn.  Be stern, not a hard azz.  MEAN what you say and stand behind it.  The THREAT of a good whoopin is enough.  The WORST thing you can threaten them with is "Wait till I tell Gramma about that!!"  Be firm but loving.  They'll never forget.  They come to Grampa when they've got a problem and want help.  I'm their friend and buddy.  Heck, they get to use my tractors,,,,,,,,,,to do MY work.  LOL  and they LOVE it!

Congrats on getting 4 raised.  It's quite a journey.  Mine are 23, 20 and 20 (twins). Bittersweet day for sure.  I'm proud of what my kids are becoming......A week ago I helped my oldest move 750 miles away, and that was one of the hardest things I've dealt with in a very long time.

Me thinks that you'd give me more trouble than all four of my kids combined did.
