Did you design a whole new manifold?

Just another wannabe puller who thinks something as simple as a different carb will double the HP of his engine??

No I'm not just another wannabe puller I have ported the head I have 4/18 overbore m&w pistons a custom header 3 angle valve job and the crank has been offset with wd45 diesel rods and a reground can changed over to electronic ignition with a 50,000 volt coil no I didn't mean updraft carb it has a zenith on it now that has a bigger jet so I know a little bit about pulling

Well then, you'll have to ask one of your competitors what they recommend as the "best" down-draft carb for your specific application. Where I come from, there isn't such a class with down-draft carbs and no governor control of the engine speed. Good luck. Sure hope you used SP-46 pistons for a good compression ratio. The rods you used are actually shorter in length than a stock OEM rod.

There isn't much a WC can't do.
WD's just do it better. |

Marvel made a 2 barrel side-draft, very small venturis, that went on Massey Ferguson 310 combines equipped with the mopar slant six.
I think we have a couple of them (side draft marvels) around. I'd like to see a picture of that manifold. Seems I did hear of a Heisler intake for a W that used a side-draft carb. Never saw one in person. |

I thought he said he had diesel rods with a offset crank. So what if the diesel rods are a little shorter....maybe the crank throws higher now........or his wrist pin height has changed. Who knows what pistons he is using. Good luck , sir. I CANT JUDGE YOU.

I'm curious about your down draft manifold. Something you designed or someone you know designed? If so, what carburetors are the competitors running? Just curious. I like different approaches to high performance modifications being I'm a hotrodder by heart. Makes things interesting. I would think it wouldn't be to tough. My old racing partner and I made a couple sheetmetal intakes for inline Chevy sixes back in the late 60's for a couple customer's Drag Cars we experimented with. One manifold we designed handled two Holley 390 cfm carburetors mounted sideways. The other was a tunnel ram style manifold with a 750 double pumper Holley sittin' on top. The single with the 750 actually worked better. Was a lot of fun experimenting with those. Later Jack Clifford of famous Clifford Research came out with some neat "bolt-on" manifolds for the inlines...
