    Posted: 15 Nov 2009 at 12:42pm
I have to say a good word about a product. I have saw most battery and tool boxes, some are are absolute junk and the sellers know that. I got burnt on a WC tool box at Portland, absolutely will not fit on a WC and open/close. If I remembered who it was they would get a lasting impression of a dissatisfied customer. All I have ever done is work with close tolerance sheet metal, from production to engineering.

Unique Design Workshop 937-585-6475 is by far the best quality I have seen. MADE IN USA, 15 miles from my house! I was going to make my own until I saw his, why should I reinvent the wheel, my time is more valuable elsewhere. He is the only person making a correct WD45 toolbox that I know of. Yea, they cost a little more, I  did said a "little". He is working on a G front(?) opening box. He wants to make a WC tool box, but these trash makers have already put a sour taste in peoples mouths. He is not and will not compromise to compete with shoddy -edit- *USA* workmanship and China labor.

That's my rant/support to help keep someone making orange parts.

Their are a lot things I would not complain about. I have ordered something and not got what I expected after paying top dollar, but ate it anyway. 99% of guys probably do not realize what an original WD/WD45 toolbox looks like. I bought one from my dealer 20 years ago and it was not like the original, thus it would never be a exact pattern. I have only saw one person making them with the correct hinge, not a common cheap piano hinge, I can make one with that hinge, but  I bought one with the correct hinge.
The A**h*** that made those WC boxes does not want to meet me. It will fit better in him than in a WC.

bigfish, all the stuff I make is as close to original as possible. I have had no complaints on anything. It has taken some pretty creative maching to keep it at the price people will pay. Reproducing anything is possible, but not always financially feasible. I myself have been letdown with parts I have bought also. I just remember, not from that guy again!Tracy Martin

Its the old "get what ya pay for" thing again I guess. Some folks on a tight budget will usually go for the cheaper product in most cases just to try to keep within budget. Unfortunately, the cheaper one is usually made cheaper, made on foriegn soil, and the quality control isn't there either.  The product is chinsy, doesn't fit, and all the other stuff that comes with it. There are a lot of nice products out there though, usually made privately here in the states by gentleman like Fred Wilke, Tracy Martin, and other fellows trying to help us Orange folks out with quality parts. This elimiates the "mass production" type of manufacturing because each piece is made with quality in mind. I can only speak for myself, but, I don't mind paying extra for a part that I know is quality and will look and fit like the original. I'd rather wait and save the extra sheckles for a nice one. I guess its a crap shoot, and mainly up to the individual. We all take a chance on something, because we're all looking to save a buck here n' there. It our nature....
