I've got a pretty big yard which grows extremely fast.  During the rainy season, it has a tendency to get away from me.  I've looked into pull-behind baggers, but they seem to only work on right-hand exhaust mower decks.  The L306 under my CA exhausts out the left side.  Does anyone have a bagger that they've bought or fabricated to work on a setup similar to mine?

Thanks.
Greg

Your L 306 is a rear discharge. It should have came with a block off plate for the left and right sides. the left chute is for when the grass is to thick and needs an extra discharge area. for it to work you would need to fabricate a vacume system to keep it from escaping out the back. Woods does make vacume attachments for the mowing machine line. the are a right side discharge deck though. with a lot of work you might be able to make something similar for the L306. you'd probaly need to add a flexable skirt to block off the back of the deck.

Hmm, interesting. Maybe you need to buy an old Brady flail chopper and just blow it into a silage wagon. My L59 doesn't really blow grass out the left much. Maybe you could make up a wide funnel like deal for the back edge of the mower and connect it to a trailer with a vacuum on it.

Dave, neither side of the mower is blocked off.  Almost all the grass exhausts out the left side (some minor amount goes out the right).  That is how it was when I got the tractor.  The only change I've made was to switch the deck from a single belt to 3 belts.  Is the rear discharge a blade change, just blocking off the sides, or both?

As for trying to get something to work, I've tried several things, but I haven't found anything to handle the turning of the tractor in relation to the trailer.  I know in order for it to work well I'll need to get some type of a blower, but I want to wait until I have this first part figured out first before buying one...just to make sure I get exactly what I need.  I guess I'm being lazy, but I was hoping someone had already gone through this and I could learn from his mistakes/successes.

The plates covering the sides is all there is to making it a rear discharge.

you could build a semi mounted trailer. hindge it at the drawbar and use one crazy wheel at the back. A John Deere. vacume trailer woks this way. always stays directly behind the tractor.

fab a way to mount it to the rear of the tractor using the lift. I thought of finding a couple yard sweepers and mounting them to the rear of the tractor.

Dave, that's a good idea.  Thanks.

Tom, I've had the same thought.  I've managed to connect the one I have.  I had to fabricate a drop hitch so the sweeper wouldn't be tiltied way up.  I think for multiple sweepers to work, I would need at least 3, in a V or reverse-V formation, to make a clean sweep.  However, they just don't hold very much grass before they fill up.  That's why I was hoping to figure out a way to get a vaccuum-type system, because I can always convert a bigger trailer to catch the grass if I need more space.

Thanks for the ideas, guys.
Greg
