Hi, Folks,

I need a used starter for my 1949 Allis B.  Anyone know where I can find such an animal, and have a price?  I have one I can get modified for the foot-start rod, but it's about $275 to get all the mods done.

Thanks.

Bryan

I found this yesterday. http://www.tractorpart.com/allis_chalmers_starters.html
My B doesn't have one, it takes 2 quarter turns with the crank to have it running even after setting all winter.

I have used that test good at $125, or I can have them rebuilt locally.  I would estimate a rebuilt to run about $250.  I found this rebuilder when a tractor came in with a bad starter.  It had his label on it, so I took it to him.  He completely disassembled it, replaced a bushing in the nose, adjusted the brushes, cleaned it up, handed it back, and said "have a nice day!"  No charge because it had his label.
