Hi guys,
Just picked up a 40 B.
The steering wheel turns almost a 1/2 turn before the wheels move. The adjuster on the box is turned in already by someone. Is there something inside the steering box that I can have remachined or replaced to correct this issue? Note that this is a "Ross" steering box.
Also, I took the magneto off and it appears like it will not rotate. I put a crescent wrench on the input lugs and it will not turn. I took the cover off and the inside looks fairly clean. What am I not seeing here?
Thanks in advance for the help,

If Dick L see's your post, I believe he could help you out with the steering box with info and pics. As for the Mag, there could be a couple reasons why the impulse doesn't turn. One, it may have gotten water or moisture in it (especially if it was sitting outside) and rust has it stuck, or one of the impulse pawls is jammed in the extend position, or a bad drive bearing that seized. We offer Magneto rebuilding, parts n' service if interested. Drop me a line, or give a call. Be happy to help you out.... 973-632-5596
