I am looking to get as much weight as possible off my B to make it be able to haul on my little utility trailer pulling doubles behind my fifth wheel camper to shows. Saves effort and fuel having the one rig rather than taking both trucks.
Anyway, does anyone with experience know how much the pto, belt pulley, and hydraulics assembly on the back weighs? My B is already pretty much as light as possible and that is the last thing I can think of taking off to drop a significant amount of weight. Thanks for any help. The trailer is big enough for it physically but has a 2,000 lb axle. My B full of fluids with a few little weights under the seat on the scales at a show I went to came in at 1740 lbs so I should be close on being under weight rating with the weight of the trailer included but any extra room I can make under capacity is always a plus. |

Probably about 25 lbs. I wouldn't think you could save enough weight to make taking it off worthwhile. But a pound here and a pound there will eventually add up. Is the frame on the camper strong enough to handle a trailer with that much weight? That would be my concern rather than the load on the trailer itself.

You got my curiosity up so I took the bathroom digital scales out to the barn. The pulley and hyd pump weigh 17.2 lbs and the rest of the PTO weighs 45.8 for a total of 63 lbs. Does not count any additional oil to fill that volume. If you decide to do that I have an OEM delete cover plate for sate at $30. plus ride. My email is actcseifert@hotmail.com
Good luck

Thanks for taking a measurement! That would put me under 1700 lbs which should give me enough to be under the axle rating. I will need a cover so I will contact you when I get to that point in the project. Thanks!
I do have a 2 inch receiver on my fifth wheel bolted to the frame in several places. It should be okay for a light tractor like that; my parents have done it several time with their camper. We always just make sure to pull the tractor on the trailer to keep the tongue weight on the back of the camper to a minimum. |

I have to believe that the scales you've weighed your B on were faulty. I have pulled many Bs and they generally were about 1900+/- stripped without a driver.
That's without a PTO.

If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits. If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY |
