Hi Guy's , I have been cultivating most of my life with Our C's but I am thinking about fixing up one of the B's , I have an old hand lift B one row spring tooth cultivator I believe its a model 60, its the one you back over to mount. My wife likes this tractor and I would like her to be able to use it as well but I don't want her to wrench her shoulder doing it. I have never seen one set up with hydraulics but I can't see it being to difficult to do . I was wondering if the factory ever did it, Thanks TJ

If the counter spring is properly adjusted the hand lift will work easy. The B cultivators were also available with hydraulic lift. It could either be just a simple bar to connect the hydraulic cylinder to a arm, that a connecting link up to the cultivators or a connection the would go from the same rockshaft the would lift a mounted plow. All this is shown in the manual.

Thanks Paul, I don't have that manual yet. But I do have the plow & the manual for the plow, the rockshaft makes perfect sense though, thanks.TJ

This is from memory only, but I think I am correct. If you have a lift shaft directly behind the seat with the hydraulic lift there is a bar that will attach to the lift shaft and go along the inside right hand fender (facing front) that attaches to the lift leaver and will allow you to lift the cultivator Hydraulically. There was parts shown for a hydraulic lift for B cultivators in the books but I have never seen one actually. My 51B has hydraulics for the plow lift but still had a mechanical lift cultivator.

My wife has arthritis in her shoulder neck & back but she loves to garden, She has watched me do my old pumpkin patch with my C but never tried it. I am just trying to figure out a way for her to try her hand at cultivating we have a 2 row Detroit Harvester 3 point cultivator for her Dad's Ford 600 but thats really to big for in our garden patch , The easiest way would be to get a set for my Farmall Cub, but I have the set for the B already . I thought about trying to make my own lift bar conversion for B cultivators. In the book it looks like they replace the assist spring rocker shaft with a different one that has a extra lever for the lift linkage to attach to. The link bar then has to go back to the rear plow lift. Looked a bit tricky on a B but the C may be easier to work with. One of those deals where you really need old parts to get a pattern off of.
