What is the best way to get all the rust and grime out of a old tank and to make sure it will be reliable?

Hi AJ. See if you can find a radiator shop and have them hot tank it. If it's pin holed on the bottom, they can usually fix it for you also. I was lucky to have worked at a place that had a plastic medium blaster that could reach inside a tank. It cleaned off the gunk and loose rust leaving a great surface to tank coat. Mike
