    Posted: 09 Jan 2014 at 11:52am
Can someone tell me the correct paint color for a B 10? I have read that 3 different shades of yellow were used over the span of the B series. I also need to know what shade of white was used on the wheels and dash.
Thanks,
Sam

This is called Caterpillar Highway Yellow.

There are two types of Cat yellow- old and new. The body shop at the dealer where I work couldn't get the paint codes from Wells to go anywheres. I read in several places that Cat old yellow is a close match, and Cat highway yellow is the new name for Cat old yellow.
Sorry, I typed this three times and thats the closest to making sense as I can get.

For the white I used "Winter White"

The paint is DuPont Imron 3.5HG from the DuPont Industrial Coating line. You mix it 4:1 with activator and thats it. It goes on thick and even and looks beautiful after it cures. When I first got done painting I thought it looked way too brown and the finish was terrible, after it cured it is amazing.

I have been to a few shows, I have seen about seven different yellows on the old B series. I don't think anybody knows the correct color, except for the one guy out east who has a brand new B-10 still in the crate.

What I did was took the paint from the inside of one of the side plates where the sun never hit it and matched that up. Perfect match or not, I like the color.

Thanks once again Marv. I removed one of my gas tank straps which has good paint on the underside. It is a dead on match to your photo.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the B-1s were one yellow, the Big tens and B-10s and 12s were another yellow, and all the B-200s were a third shade of yellow.

I don't know where the B-10 is in the crate, I just read on another site that a guy was working on getting it but I never heard or saw if he did.
