Aussie Shed (Barn) Find Part 2. Following on from earlier post, did a 3hr road trip North yesterday to pick up the Allis Model U. Looks even better out of the shed in the day light for the first time the owner said in 35 years!
Next stop a mates place to pick up a Case 600 header (combine) I bought a while ago. Like the quick detach front. After some of the dust blew off the U on trip back. Possibly original seat?? Maybe someone has a better one that can comment. Edited by WD in Australia - 11 Oct 2020 at 4:39am |

G'day Dave, engine is loose so new oil and fuel and she most likely will go. It came from a dry climate, only reason it is not stuck after 35 years. Cheers, Richard

G'day Dave, had a closer look at the post hole digger today and it is in mint condition. Guy I bought it from never used the digger. I reckon it would make a great display at a rally leaving it on and ticking over with an auger on it. Cheers, Richard

Thanks Bill. They are good for clearing the road of Roos! (Kangaroos) which is one of the hazards of living in Australia. We call them Bull bars here in Australia. We put them on trucks and utes (pick ups). Cheers, Richard

Thanks Steve. Truck is a 1981 K125 Kenworth with a 400 Cummins. Trailer is a 1998 Freighter made locally. It started life as a single axle tautliner with side curtains and was cut down later on into a flat top. Cheers, Richard

Richard, Nice truck/trailer rig. I love the bull bars! AC U is amazing. Great barn find. What’s the story on the Case combine - gas engine? liter/ci size? Header sizes? Thanks for sharing.

I believe those are the remains of the original seat, though it's obviously been re-worked a few times. It's definitely similar to the other originals I've seen from that timeframe

Thanks John, great to know. I will see if our local trim place can repair it and cover it with the same style canvas. Cheers, Richard

Thanks AC7060IL, it is a nice old rig, they are quite collectable now. It looks the part taking old tractors to a rally (show). The Case header (combine) was bought new by a friend of a friend in a dry climate near Horsham, Victoria. It had a cabin which my friend removed to return it to original. It has the standard gas engine with a 14ft front (head). Front was removed for transport. Hasn't been used for a while but we will get it running for either our harvest day this December./Jan or by next year. I have a few other headers (combines) to get ready ahead of this one including the Model C Gleaner I have posted here earlier in the year which I would like to demonstrate to the elderly gentleman I got it from before he passes. Cheers, Richard

Thank you for posting your Great finds. Amazing what our forfather's had to use. I cannot imagine a youth of today spending all day on either of the 3 you have on your trailer.

Thank you for sharing, Mate. We have friends who live in Adelaide. She's American, he's a native Australian. They've lived on both sides of the Pacific. They say they can live better in Australia on what they can earn than they can in the U.S.

Australia is one place I've wanted to visit, but it don't look like we'll ever make it.
It's a long sit flying there. Maybe I could put pontoons on our motor home and drive/sail it there. Dusty
