Mark, yes I've wonder the same about their existence? Their low 3-ton limits their farm use - right? Any of the higher tonnage 4.5/5/6 ton gears could also capacitate any lighter tonnage needs ~ smaller flare box ear corn, tobacco leaves rack, cotton,...???
Maybe specific Industrial applications have more merit - Airport portable power unit? Shipyard portable power welder/pump/generator? Factory portable unit? City/municipal portable power unit/sewer drain maintenance vacuum/air pump?

Note the 3 ton wagons are 4 bolt hubs...and do not have the triangle stops on the tongue....

Was the 3 ton the early one with with the full disc wheel that was under the first 
(Calhoun/ Allis) chopper boxes?  Or the relative of David Bradlely/Wards/Electric Wheel?   Dale

The wagon should also have EWC on the hubs ...made by electric wheel....I did locate one for sale...thanks Mark
