This tractor was a gift for my mother in law's 45th b'day. She is now 93 and will still drive it around the property. Was purchased by her dad in 1978 amongst a group of five "VA" series. Three tractors were completely rebuilt, (and I mean complete) as were virtually new when completed using all JI Case supplied parts. The two "VAI" series are still around, as is the other "VAC" of the package which is a wide front. The deck mower in the photos was new at the rebuild. It still runs very well but the mowing is hired out any longer.

Been around so long all the kids of the later generation(s) enjoy running around the property with it. It gets used a lot to drag downed timber from the back to the front for the fire pit and this weekend will be no exception.

I learned to drive on the VAO version of the Case. My granddad bought it new, as he had 5 to 10 acres of apples and other misc. trees. My dad never had many jobs for it. Had frame to put a oil drum on the rear axle as a spray tank. Was fowling the plugs never got run much , so it got sold. Since it was bought new I kind of regret it leaving, but still no use hopefully it has a good home.

There was the remnants of VAO sheet metal in the tractor pile when these were purchased. Far too gone to work with although someone with an english wheel could have made new panels with effort. It belonged to a local vineyard that is no longer around. I liked the VAI series with the small tires as they were very good mowing tractors. The wide front example has a "Woods" finish belly mower on it but I used a crankshaft driven hydraulic pump and deck mounted hydraulic motor to power it as never did right with the PTO drive. Can't believe that is pushing 45 years ago...... That tractor has always been inside unless being used and is very clean. This one shown sat outside many of it's years, or under a tarp. It runs very well but I did the balancing on the engine when it was rebuilt back in 79. Even the clutch and pressure plate are zero balanced in the tractor so it's very smooth.
