She is doing great with the speed-up sprocket on, but I have a LOT of clean beans in the return. No matter how I adjust the sieve or chaffer or fan speed. I have took out the sieve and checked the pan underneath for holes, but no holes. It almost seems like the beans are falling off the sieve straight into the return auger? Is that possible? I have changed everything I can think of including travel speed up and down to no avail. HELP

Normally, too much clean grain running back around the tailings elevator means the lower sieve is closed too tightly, or you are driving too fast. Now, if grain isn't being taken away by the clean grain auger fast enough, you could have the same thing happen. So, you could have auger flighting missing on the clean grain auger, or something blocking the grain from getting to the (front) clean grain auger, like the blank that covers the perforated floor under the sieve?? You say you've removed the sieve and looked. The chaffer is on the top and the sieve is on the bottom. Which one did you remove??? I think you need to remove both to see what is going on. If you adjust the chaffer (1 1/8" short finger) to 1/2" opening and the lower sieve to 3/8" opening and have the air at "5"ish , it should work and have minimal tailings.

It has the long finger chaffer and sieve, I have removed both and tried running it with the pans covering the perforated floors removed. Both the one under the sieve and the one on the bottom(thinking it would save me from all the weeds I have been running through her). With the long fingers I should not get a perfect sample, right? But I have the cleanest beans around at the mill, just worried the return auger will stop up solid because of all the beans returning. When I cut the head off to unload the beans just pour out the front because the cylinder is throwing them forward.

WHAT about clean elevator chain, In backwards, paddles worn out, mouse holes in them. Check board or divider in clean elevator. Check cleaning fan for bent blades or twisted. Shut separated off before it gets cleaned out and check where beans are piled up. I'm with Dr. Sounds like clean grain auger is worn out. Have saw wheat do that when blank was not put in under sieve. I caught the fan drive belt slipping thus slowing down the fan, shoe and overloading the tailings a few years back..
but that was in corn...

I used to run the "cookie sheet" in the A2 but this F2 didn't come with one.My panel looks like a porky pine after beans. Backwoods,I don't know how much experience you have with conventional Gleaners but you always have some beans in the return.Grab a handfull and see if it's as bad as it looks.

I was cutting with the L3 the other day. Same thing way to much good clean beans coming over the return. Had it opened way up !!!! Got to looking, and the rear shaker arm had came out and trapped itself in the angle bracket. Therefore the shoe was sitting on a slope letting it over load one side. I doubt that's it, but l wouldn't have guessed it either.

Steve, It is as bad as I think. It will almost fill up a average drinking glass with clean beans on every paddle.

Is the front of the sieve in the lowest position? Are all the seals in place and in good shape? My L2 has never done that but I do have new augers and elevator chains. My tailings used to over load with trash and then the slip clutch with chatter but a new auger and elevator chain solved that problem. From here I think it's a worn auger or elevator chain on the clean side or a hole or missing seal. Your not getting trash so I'd say it's not anything to do with the fan......... or the fan is stuck wide open......... I run my fan nearly wide open but I'm in heavy green stems too.

I looked it over real good this evening, the paddles look good, clean grain auger looks new, the sieve is in the lowest position. It looks like to me the beans are dropping off the sieve into the return auger, maybe its supposed to have a shield there? Or maybe the fan is just still to high and blowing the beans back to the return auger when they fall off the sieve? I had this problem last year in 10-15bpa beans but when I got into some 30+bpa beans it cleared up. I'm in 40+bpa beans now and it's still doing it. I can run like this because it is not throwing beans out the back and giving a good sample.

Not hijacking the thread, but what "blank" are you talking about? Is that something specific for beans? I ran an M2 this summer and it was delivering a lot of wheat back to the cylinder, and it was plugging the elevator at times. (I'll check the other things like the clean grain cross auger and elevator chain.)

Creston, on my L3 it has a flat sheet bolted under the sieve and on the floor of the shaker pan, you remove these and it is perforated to allow small weed seeds to escape before the return auger. You can only run them in beans or corn the holes are to big for wheat.

On a corn soybean special, the plate under the bottom sieve that directs clean grain to clean grain auger is drilled full of holes (like a wheat screen). There is a blank sheet that slides over the holes when you cut small grain. Without that blank in wheat, alot of wheat will fall through into return. This sounds like what is happening with backwoods farmers combined in beans. MACK
