    Posted: 30 May 2019 at 10:16am
At the last farm show in Benson NC ,dad and I took a couple of tractors and wound up bringing an extra AC home which included this B that a guy had for sale.My pops had the itching to buy/build another B to lower (and I don’t know why @ 6’6” it’s hilarious to watch him try and get on it),however my son has laid claim to it so it all works out. He’s going to drive it in our hometown festival parade this weekend front and center of all the AC’s. Anyway it was a good platform for what my dad wanted but there were some changes that had to be done like new fabricated brake rods and some WD fenders, braces, front wheels, rubber.Paint was decent but I stripped all the decals, wet sanded it all and shot semigloss on top of it.We had an extra set of rear 4 clamp wheels we used but the back spacing still wasn’t enough to clear the fenders so had to redneck it and space the braces off the drive housings an inch then set the fenders to the inside of the braces instead of the outside using all stainless hardware. Originally it had C fenders welded up to sheet metal and wasn’t very stable. Also the kill switch and regulator were mounted on the outside of the toolbox with wires a dangling so I mounted everything inside, cleaned all that up.Used a set of Energy Suspension ball joint boots for the busted ones on the front link.BTW for info,ES products are the way to go on such parts ,they last waaaay longer than any other products for these applications.I’ve used their stuff on all my old race cars and my 4x4 trucks.Had an extra set of GY Eagle front runners for the hell of it,front tires were shot.Replaced the C seat frame that was on it for a B frame so dad could have more room under the wheel.New manifold, exhaust pipe and a 4” round K&N filter I used on my Holly 2 brrl carb that I ran on my Harley at one time in place of the mushroom cap.In all it was fun but these ain’t for the long legged folk😁

These are great for balljoint covers, much better than any rubber boots,in various sizes but I usually get them for GM or Ford.Whats used on most early AC are roughly the same size as standard GM/Ford balljoints.

Thanks y’all,I appreciate it and I know it’s not for everyone.Matter of fact ,I think the only reason we haven’t done it before was ,well just didn’t really have the heart to do it but since this one was already in the making it was a little easier.

Chris...yessir started on this right after the D17.Now dad is pulling the last but not least 45 wide front in the shop for a complete tear down and paint but this one will take a while, longer than the 17 and I’m done painting for now,at least late fall.

Thanks y’all !! It means coming from you elder statesmen of the AC machines to like these types of builds (and I mean no disrespect by elder statesmen either😬) My son is getting his feel for it before the parade tomorrow and has completely forgot about wanting my truck for his 16th BD... now he wants to license & tag this thing🤔
