Congratulations, Mike and Cindy. Better find another Allis fast!!LOL
My first granddaughter was born several weeks early 12 years ago. She tackles everything with such enthusiasm that I'm sure she came early because she couldn't wait to get started!! She's been driving Allis's since she was 7 including the 20-35.

(Why do grandkids seem to grow up faster than their parents did??)

My son also arrived a little early.  It won't take long and you won't even know it.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.  I was surprised by the number of people that had children well in their 40's. That sure made me feel much better.  I though my parents were OLD when I was a kid...Mom was 41 and Dad was almost 44 when I was born.  I swore I'd be younger than them and when I had Ethan I was 38.  We talked about having a 3rd after Ethan but it took a couple years to get him and pretty much decided we were done after him...but we never got to 100% sure and closed that door.

So here's another Allis connection to this story....at Dale's OPOP show last summer it was just me and both boys as Cindy had an all weekend long scrapbooking event.  On Saturday as we were heading back to the show from the hotel and I was so happy to be doing stuff like that with the boys.  All of a sudden have this little episode of feeling sad that we only had the 2 boys and I wasn't going to get to share events like this with any more kids...it was really profound.  So God apparently heard my "wish" and gave me a gift, it's one of the reasons we named him Matthew.

Keep in mind this was mid July and right around "the night in question"....I didn't tell Cindy this story until later and when I did I got the "blame"....LOL!  But for the record on that "night in question", when I went to bed that night my plans were for just a good night's sleep!!!!

A couple specific comments back:

IG/John - I actually thought about you along a the way a few times as you are a year younger than me and have grandkids....imagine getting a surprise!!

Eldon - I read Cindy your comment and she was NOT amused, LOL!  Having a 4th is NOT going to happen.  I took care of that issue but unfortunately it was just last Friday and having a baby in the middle of the night a few days later was NOT part of my personal recovery plan!!!!

Brian F - Lucas has called "dibs" on the One-Eighty gas if I get another tractor...I'm thinking I need at least a 190XT.  That 200 Andrew has advertised sure looks good... But realistically it'll be a couple years before I need to tractor shop...but you never know...I've bought one tractor each of the last 2 years that I never had planned to buy...

Don - Both boys are really happy about him...for now...we'll see when he comes home and gets all the attention for a while instead of them...

And and update...Matthew is still in the NICU but he's doing much better.  He made lots of improvement between noon and this evening and he may be off oxygen tomorrow and Cindy will be able to start nursing him.   2 more pics:

Guess who's hair he got?????

Mike

Great News Mike, don't worry about him being early. I was 2 months early & weighed 2 lbs 10 oz and look how I turned out, old & fat! You may want to think about another D17 so no one feels slighted. My youngest could remember to the penny what we spent on the oldest when it came to prom dresses, shoes, what I gave towards their cars, etc. You will be able to retire to the farm & have all the heavy work covered before long. Enjoy, they will be grown before you know it...Harvey
