The guy that I got this from said it made a lot of noise and was still running until he shut it off! This is what was in the oil pan. I don't think it was still running do you? Now looking for a good 170 gas motor anybody got one?<a href="http://s54.photobucket.com/albums/g108/Kurtde/ac/?action=view¤t=100_2694.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g108/Kurtde/ac/100_2694.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g108/Kurtde/ac/100_2694.jpg

Well, perhaps it was running down a hill after the cam broke but I doubt if the engine itself was running.

It's part of the 'game". Several years ago, I went to look at a WD. The seller said it had just been overhauled. No documentation. I asked what did you do to it? He said "I don't know but "Ole Joe" did it and he's good, you can ask anybody". He started the tractor and the oil pressure gauge needle did not move initially or after 2 or 3 minutes of engine running. (Ambient temp was about 40 deg.) So, I just left........no need to say anything.
I've also looked at WD's with WD45 decals and the seller will "swear" it is a 45........no need to say much......just leave.

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Don't be too quick to say it couldn't have had to be shut down. Years ago I when I was working for a Goodyear shop I saw a car that was stopped on the road (Red Light) making lots of bad noise. I could see something fall out on the pavement and it was a chunk of camshaft. It was lunch time so I tried to find the car figuring it couldn't have gone far. I had seen where it turned, but I never found it.
