    Posted: 02 Apr 2020 at 9:15pm
Hi! My grandpa worked for Allis-Chalmers for many years and eventually became the general manager of the Springfield, Illinois plant. My mom says he got 2 sets of glasses from the company as a retirement gift. They feature two men in overalls and caps. I can’t find this on the web as a logo for A-C. Does anyone know if this used to be a logo they used?

I've need dealing with AC tractors/clothes/equipment since 1955. I've never seen that before at any dealership I hung out in.

If you put some paper in the glass, get a GOOD picture of the logo. You can then use some Google 'app' to locate any pictures with kinda match your picture.

I clipped just the circular part of the picture with the two guys, and did the google image search on that. I got this AC image back as a possible. What are the chances of AC being in the image when that was not in the search criteria?

Chask, your da winner... so far.
I used your image and got 99% coca-cola pictlures... not even your AC sparkplug ad.
tried cropping the original pic to sort of get rid of the circle and google went picaso... so much unrelated crap.
Then just cropped the whole glass and they looked for... wine glasses.
then tried naming the picture 'union glass' and that didn't change the search either. Then tried AC right after the pic and got me into delco and refrigeration and slapped up one of ghostbusters...
Finally just square cropped the whole circle and tried that... and an aol figure popped up in the mess so... tried that and got this, but none were there two fellows stepping forward.

The legs stance was better in this one but... bodies were wrong...

And the leg stance is about right here but...it ain't the funny cartoon men.

I did find an NGK girl sorta like your AC... LOL
Hope some body doesn't go wastin his time pullin spark plugs out...ErmmWink

Yeah I got mostly the Coca Lola Girl to. Kinda fun at times these searches, but usually frustrating when you can't find what you need.

The Springfield plant was where the built the Crawler Tractors.. Started out early in the 1900s... Bought the BAKER blade plant and several others combined in.. Sold a lot of 16B and 21B to the Military during WW11 and later in VietNam.. In the 1970-80s they built the 31 and 41B LARGE Crawlers for coal mines and export all over the world..80 TONS and 525 HP... About 5000 union guys worked there with a BIG Engineering Dept........... Im guessing it was a Union thing.... like Shamless, i have seen it before, but cant remember where.. Probably 40 years ago.

Just keeping the history straight, all WW2  AC where Detroit Diesel powered. HD 14 and the HD 19. The HD 19 may not have come until after the war. The HD 15 and HD 20 came after the war. Late 50's when AC started using Buda engine the HD 16 and HD 21 came into being.

Misty8  thanks for bring more history out of the closet or basement. JC and Chas thanks for taking time to go digging.
