Hi all. I have a 1982 Allis-Chalmers backhoe and I am wondering what color the cab should be? It's white now but I'm wondering if it is supposed to be yellow like the rest of the machine. Only ask because I'm planning on painting it and would like it to look new and be correct. Thanks

Depending on cab , with fold out doors in upper and lower , cab is Black , earlier were all yellow

I think mine is late 70s and is solid yellow. Two piece doors.

What color code are you going with? I have had a terrible time getting carquest to match the color, or produce a code.

I'm not sure on the paint code yet. This is a 1982 machine with the turbo Allis-Chalmers 433

This will help the Allis Chalmers 715 Loader Backhoe owners with paint questions.

The first production of the 715 Loader Backhoes were released in late 1973 -  the original paint on these machines was National School Bus Yellow  both on the tractor , the cab- and the rims - a very common and readily available paint.

The  715 B series backhoes were painted National School Bus Yellow, but the cab, (if equipped) was Black.  The specificity of the black color is not noted - appears to be a flat black.

The 715 C (no series reference) saw a return to all National School Bus Yellow for both the Tractor, the cab and the rims.

The 715 D backhoes circa CDS production saw a return to the National School Bus Yellow Paint on the Tractor, and Rims with a Black Cab.  This is from seeing one in the field.  To the best of my knowledge there was no production literature released for the 715D.

FN: Note Allis Chalmers used a number of yellow paint codes throughout the 60's. Lorain Yellow was a popular yellow on AC Industrial equipment of the 60's.   To be sure of your paint color see if you can find a panel and have the paint store scan it.   HTH;s ~ Orangeman
