I think I'll do that. I'm not spending $85 a quart at Napa, and I don't want to spend my money at JD.

I do like to support my local JD dealer, one of the few with only one store and not a chain, they are also the closest Hesston/MF dealer so I do give them some money for parts.  I really don't like to give money to the big multi state dealerships, know most of what I give them goes away, same as wally world.

I agree with that!  We have one AGCO dealer in the area left that is not a chain.  Last time I was there the owner gave me an old Allis parts box.  Great guy

I will wait a couple days for stuff to come in at our local Agco, sure sometimes it can be pricey but like many have said you pay for good service. Creston is right I wont fund that green company.

Called the Agco dealer back....parts guy said they don't sell it any more because it's an old color that Agco no longer uses on their new machines. Said they can't order it because no one makes it. Phffffffffff!!!!
Then, tried one more dealer (large chain dealer) and the one closest to me has 4 quarts at $39 each. Road trip!!

I only bought 2. Does paint ever get old and go bad?? These quarts were pretty dusty, but I opened one, stirred it up for about 10 minutes, brushed some on a combine unloading auger tube and it looked awesome!!! All the brush lines went away and when it dried it looked like it had been sprayed with a paint gun!!

I seem to remember someone saying they are usually pretty expensive, but $39 for a quart didn't seem too bad to me.

You couldnt ask for a much better dealer in my opinion.  Earl and his crew have always been top notch working with us.

Many of those "multi-state" dealerships are really still made up of the small independent dealers they acquired. Many of the same experienced employees still working at them.

That is true, ACmowerguy, but I still like to support the little guy, plus, in my case the independent JD dealer is 25 miles closer then the chain one.  Across the road is the CIH/NH & Kubota dealer branch.  Small family owned company with three branches. Known the people there for years, one was in 4-H with me 40 years ago.  Size of the dealership doesn't matter as much as the attitude of the people who work there.

I don't like to bash dealers (their lively hood is in the hands of these fickle international corporations), our JD guy is fine and they do have some AGCO paint, and
Tisco parts for your 8n and such.
The MF dealer was always heavy into construction, but they sell tractors for golf courses, municipalities, remaining farms and such. So when MF got out of construction (as did Allis)  they started selling Kawasaki and Komatsu heavy stuff, wheel loaders, skid steers of all types.
I tried and failed to purchase an Allis part from them. The customer service was poor,
an email, a fax, 3 phone calls. I got the run around. But, I can see how the majors also let THEM down over the years.

Creston contact AJ in Jefferson City, Mo. As I get the picture he is working with NAPA to update one of the cheap paints to a reliable one. Don't remember what it's to be called, but should be available soon. We can hope can't we? Leon R  Cmo
